Hello, I'm Daniel

I'm a first-gen professional, Korean-American, and Yale Law student with experience working with hundreds of applicants at big companies like 7Sage. I even worked on higher ed admissions for the state of Virginia. I learned a lot, became an expert, and decided it was time to support people like you directly.

Why me?

  1. My experience. I did this myself, as a first-gen applicant, getting into Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and more. And then I did it with others at 7Sage, working closely with dozens of former law school admissions officers and helping hundreds of applicants overperform their numbers. There's no secret ingredient that ONLY a small coterie of former admissions officers know, and the vast majority of the work of an application is the writing, anyways. Don't get scared into the massive name-brand packages. This process can be simple, and I'll make it easy for you.
  2. No markup, all the value. Brands like 7Sage, Juris Education, or Spivey want to charge $8,000 for consulting because they need to pay five different people with competing voices and interests. With me, you just work with someone who cares, and you walk away with saving money that you can use for 1L (it's expensive, from personal experience).
  3. Trust and security. There's a lot of independent consultants out there who don't do things by the book. I do. Before we start work, we sign a contract that enshrines my obligations to you, work out payment, and if after our first session you feel like it's not a good fit, you get everything back.
  4. Writing. I've had people with mid-160s LSATs get into Harvard and Yale, and others with sub-3.0 GPAs get into multiple T20s. Close, expert editorial support is what makes the difference: none of these folks were Rhodes Scholars or CEOs of fancy non-profits, they just wrote really good essays. From ideation to developmental editing, structural revisions, and close line-editing, I'll help you tell your story.
  5. Our interests are the same. At big companies, the incentives are all wrong. Consultants can take clients for granted, because they come in droves every year. Sometimes they want to finish quickly, because there might be a better assignment on the horizon. Other times, they might want to take longer if it'll mean they'll get paid more. And besides, what's another Harvard admit to them? I, on the other hand, only have my individual reputation to live off of. If you succeed, I succeed.

I had not yet begun drafting any essays before working with Daniel in October, so I felt a bit behind, but he immediately reached out and set up a time to chat and start brainstorming. By around December, I had the majority of my essays completely finished and polished; we went through many iterations of personal, perspective, and supplemental statements, and along with providing timely edits/feedback, Daniel was more than willing to jump on a call when I was having trouble navigating a certain topic or simply needed a sounding board to bounce ideas off of. He also was not afraid to be blunt with his critiques, which I really appreciated! FAQ

How long have you been doing this?
I've worked with 250+ clients over four cycles.
What's your success rate?
First, beware of companies/people that publish success rates, which are all self-reported and unaudited by a proper third party evaluator. Second, it really depends on the applicant, but if a client is aiming for a few different reaches/dream schools with a GPA or LSAT below their median, they've almost always gotten into at least one such school with me.
What's your process?
Once we discuss your needs, we figure out a service that's completely tailored just for you. Then, I'll send you a contract (I do things by the book), get our first session on the calendar, and set up a folder for us to house all our documents and resources. We'll start with a thorough review of your resume, school goals, and priorities, and begin the editorial process starting with your personal statement. If you have no idea what to write about, we figure that out together.
How fast will you get back to me?
I have email OCD. I can't stand seeing that little red circle with a "1" on my gmail app, so quick questions or requests will get answered very quickly (like between 3 minutes and 4-5 hours). If you send me something that requires more consideration, like edits for a new draft, I'll aim to get back to you within 72 hours, at max. I usually average 24-36 hours, even on the weekends. And you can even text me!
Do you work with non-traditional applicants?
Yes. I've worked with many international students (including those for whom English is a second language), older applicants, veterans, STEM applicants, low GPAs, low LSATs, KJDs, you name it.
Could I speak to one of your former clients?
Sure! I can't control anyone's schedule, but I'm happy to try and set up a chat if that would make you feel more secure.
What's your refund policy?
If we get started and have our first session but you walk away feeling like you've made a horrible mistake, let me know within 48 hours and we can call it off.
